PENGARUH INTENSITAS KEBISINGAN DAN LAMA PAPARAN PERHARI DENGAN KEJADIAN NOISE INDUCED HEARING LOSS (NIHL)
Abstract
WHO (2007) revealed that the prevalence of deafness in Indonesia reached 4.2%. Countries in the world have determined that Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is the biggest occupational disease suffered. The scope of this research is noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) in workers at the Utilities Unit of PT. PERTAMINA (Persero) RU VI Balongan, and aims to determine the effect of noise and the length of exposure per day on the incidence of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL).
The research design was a cross sectional study, and data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, measuring and examining. The population and sample in this study were all workers in the Utilities unit, namely 83 people. This study used the chi-square test to determine the factors that influence NIHL.
The results showed the effect of noise intensity > 85 dBA (74.7%), the effect of daily exposure ≥6-8 hours (4.8%). After the chi-square test was carried out, the results were that there was an effect of intensity with NIHL (p=0.035), there was an effect of length of exposure per day with NIHL (p=0.001). The conclusion in this study is that there is an influence between factors with NIHL potential.
To minimize the potential for NIHL, it is necessary to carry out regular audiometric examinations, namely once every 6 months, increase supervision of the use of ear protection devices and organize special counseling about NIHL.
